About the Department:

The Department of Mathematics of Jeevan Vikas Mahavidyalaya,Devgram at UG level was established in the year 2018. The Department offers graduate, postgraduate courses in Mathematics. It consists of qualified faculty members to make sure the best education Imparted to the students. The faculty members are also actively involved in research and carrying out projects. The students are provided with ample opportunities to improve their skills. They are motivated to handle seminars and participate in group discussions. Apart from emphasizing consistent and good academic performance, the department encourages participation of students in curricular and co-curricular activities to bring out the best in them.

Core Competence

A core of basic mathematics provides with the fundamental mathematical knowledge and skills, and the basis for more advanced work later on. The core mathematics courses are aimed at building a strong foundation in the subject. Students are exposed to advanced research topics through electives and project work.

Programmes Offered

Mathematics is a basic analytical tool in all the disciplines. The department lays a strong foundation in Mathematics with syllabus designed so as to cater to the needs of all
undergraduate and postgraduate students. Also, the department offers UG, PG course in Mathematics.

B.Sc Mathematics
The Bachelor of Science in Mathematics provides a strong background to the fundamentals of mathematics. There is a large demand for people with strong analytical skills and a broadbased background in the mathematical sciences. The 3-year B.Sc programme will prepare a student to avail many diverse attractive opportunities.

M.Sc.Mathematics
M.Sc Programme is proposed by the department to meet the growing demands of core mathematicians. The 2-year M.Sc. programme curriculum focuses not only on the
conventional Mathematics course but also keeps in view of the current needs and demands in various upcoming fields.

Departmental Activities :

Science Exhibition and Poster Making Competition

Science Exhibition and Poster making competition co-cordially organized by all the science departments on 07/09/2022, In this exhibition, all science students from B. Sc-I, II and III actively participated. Various types of posters, science models and charts are presented by students. In this exhibition working models and best from waste product is also presented. The program is most important and useful for the science students. Also, from this exhibition, we got that the student level is growing day by day and we will see the future scientific and working model soon from the science students.

Service Oriented Program

Service Oriented Program organized by Department of Mathematics, Jeevan Vikas Mahavidyalaya, Devgram on 16/11/2023 To 22/11/2023. In this program, Students of B. Sc-II and M. Sc- I Year are envolved. Through this program students visited three different colleges, Jeevan Vikas Vidyalaya, Devgram, Belona High School Belona and Janta Highchool, Jalalkheda. Students gave seminar to each of these colleges and got feedback from the students of these three colleges. We found the great impact on our students and it will help them in future for delivering a seminar for higher faculty.

Expert Meet :

The Department of Mathematics Jeevan Vikas Mahavidyalaya, Devgram organized an online expert’s meet on 30th November 2022 at 12 PM in the Smart Room. The topic of the expert’s meet was “Ordinary Differential Equations”. Dr. Ganesh D. Kedar, Professor and Head of department of mathematics, RTM Nagpur University was the expert guest speaker for the meet. Dr. Devendra Bhongade sir, Principal of the college was the chairperson of the program. Ms. Pooja Raut, student of MSc Mathematics First Year anchored the program. Dr. Kalyani Thakre (Head of the Department of Mathematics) introduced the expert speaker to the audience. Mathematics students of BSc and MSc have attended the expert’s meet. The speaker enlightened the students on the concepts and problems of Ordinary Differential Equations. Mr. Ajay Kharpate sir of Mathematics department . The expert motivated the students through his speech for encouraging them to study and wished them best of luck with assurance to help and clear student’s doubts related to the topic in future. He also congratulated the organizing team for success of the event with his inspiring words. The lecture was followed by a question-and-answer session. The program came to an end at 1.20 PM. The event was a good platform for the students to get the knowledge of Ordinary Differential equations. It was a great learning and exploring experience and a highly educative one too.

Mathematics Quiz Competition :

Mathematics Quiz Competition (Online) Organized by Department of mathematics, Vidya Vikas Arts, Commerce & Science Samudrapur, Wardha on 22/12/2023 In this Mathematics Quiz Competition, Students of B. Sc-II and M. Sc- I Year are participated.

Workshop on Vedic Mathematics

Workshop on Vedic Mathematics Organized by Department of Mathematics, Jeevan Vikas Mahavidyalaya, Devgram, on 31/12/2023. The workshop is conducted for CBSC, Highschool, Junior college students. Vedic mathematics is the best source for making fast calculations and to develop the interest in mathematics in students. It was successfully conducted and better results are seen in the students of CBSC, High School and Junior college.
