About the Department 

Commerce education equips students with specialised skills that come useful in tackling problems in different functional areas of commerce, industry and trade. Commerce offers foundation for many professional careers like Finance, Planning, Accountancy, Tax Practitioners, Banking and Broking etc, besides academics, research, and many more. Persons having flair for accounting, finance, commodities, marketing and trading etc. generally choose Commerce as first career choice. The skilled manpower supply is indispensable for the growth of a business. Commerce education has a crucial role in today’s dynamic business environment. Commerce education helps support the increasing needs of business houses. It has been developed to provide aids to the growing manpower needs in thousands of business enterprises. The rapidly changing trends privatisation, globalisation and implementation of technology has made tough for organisations to survive the competition in the business world. Consequently, the demand for Commerce education has increased many folds. Business executives need to be trained to update and adapt their skills quickly as per the sudden changes in the external environment.

Objectives of Commerce Education:
The objectives of Commerce education in India include:
• Finding out challenges in the commerce education sector.
• Identifying future trends in commerce education.
• Fighting challenges in commerce education by promoting its importance in business and
finance.
• To equip the students to seek suitable careers in management and entrepreneurship

Future Plans 

1. Department is planning to undertake sessions on e-learning for the students so that they can make a constructive use of e-resources.
2. Equipping students with special language skills for holistic and communicative personality.
3. Encouraging faculty to publish research work and attend conferences, Faculty Development
Programs and Seminars.
4.To start multidisciplinary job oriented courses

Activities of Commerce Department :

International Accounting Day :

             International Accounting Day was celebrated at Jeevan Vikas College Devgram on behalf of the Department of Commerce.  This program was organized under the guidance of Devendra Bhongade, Principal, Jeevan Vikas Mahavidyalaya, Devgram.  A poster competition was held in that more than 100 students participated. The  Special prizes were given to the winners and certificates were given to the participating students. The importance of International Accounting Day and why this day is organized and the importance of accounting in personal life and its types were highlighted by the keynote speaker Dr. Kalyani Thakre  through his guidance. The chairperson of this program Prof. Nagesh Dhobale said how important branch of commerce is and how it provides job opportunities. He expressed his opinion in his speech that if you have only one goal and no one can stop you to succeed in life. The chief guest for this program, Marathi Department Head Dr. Pravin Gharpure congratulated the students participating in the poster competition and guided them.The introductory  speech was given by Prof. Ankush Bobde, Prof. Abhay Dhote compered and  Prof. Kirti Gotmare  proposed the vote of thanks.

 

 

 

One Day Workshop on 'Banking Documents and Updated Services

One day workshop was co-cordially organized by commerce departments on 28/12/2022, In this workshop, all commerce students from 11th, 12th, B.Com. part- I, II and III actively participated. Various types of charts regarding banking documents have been shown to the students.  The role of banking sector is important in the global economy. Expressed by Dr. Raju Shrirame Vice Principal of Jeevan Vikas Mahavidyalaya Devgram He was speaking while inaugurating a workshop on 'Banking Documents and Updated Services' organized by Department of Commerce at Jeevan Vikas Mahavidyalaya Devgram. On this occasion, Principal Dr. Devendra Bhongade was mainly present. Program Chairman Prof. Nagesh Dhoble discussed the importance of banks in the modern age and the malpractices in banks, protection from them, protective measures etc. The program was coordinated by Prof. Prashant Dakhole, Introductory information provided by Prof Ankush Bobade vote of thanks done by Prof Suraj Nimburkar done. In the second session Prof. Ankush Bobde guided RTGS, NEFT, Withdrawal slip, Deposit slip, KYC, ATM, Insurance, Account Opening, Demand Draft, Agriculture loan etc. application and bank related. All students of commerce department are participated in this program.
