About National Service Scheme

The NSS unit was started in 1996 at establishment of College . Initially, there were 100 volunteers in that unit . At present, it is the unit of 200 volunteers including B.A., B.Com., B.Sc., M.A.( Eng, Mar, Eco and Pol. Sci.)  and M.Sc. (Maths, Chem. and Microbiology ). The NSS unit organises regularly various social activities for community like Blood Donation Camp, Tobaco Free Community, Gram Swachchhata Abhiyan, Elimination of superstitions, Awareness about health, Health Check up Camp, sanitation and inculcate nationalism.

Objectives of National Service Scheme

The main objectives of National Service Scheme (NSS) are :

i. To understand the community in which they work
ii. To understand themselves in relation to their community
iii. To identify the needs and problems of the community and involve them in problem-solving
iv. To develop among themselves a sense of social and civic responsibility
v. To utilize their knowledge in finding practical solutions to individual and community problems
vi. To develop competence required for group-living and sharing of responsibilities
vii. To gain skills in mobilizing community participation
viii. To acquire leadership qualities and democratic attitudes
ix. To develop capacity to meet emergencies and natural disasters and
x. To practice national integration and social harmony

Coverage:

The College NSS unit started initially in 100 volunteers, the unit has grown over the years and it is implemented today with an involvement of more than 200 college volunteers and more than 100 volunteers other and  spread over vicinity of Devgram which organised various social activities for the community.  The College NSS unit has big impact on near about 30 villages including Narkhed and Katol Tahsil. The efforts of NSS volunteers have been widely acclaimed by the community,B.A., B.Sc., B.Voc., B.Com., M.A. and M.Sc. as the NSS volunteers have been rendering selfless service to the community.

Motto:

The Motto of NSS “Not Me But You”, reflects the essence of democratic living and upholds the need for self-less service. NSS helps the students development & appreciation to other person’s point of view and also show consideration towards other living beings. The philosophy of the NSS is a good doctrine in this motto, which underlines on the belief that the welfare of an individual is ultimately dependent on the welfare of the society as a whole and therefore, the NSS volunteers shall strive for the well-being of the society.
