About Department

The Department of Chemistry of Jeevan Vikas Mahavidyalaya, Devgram at UG level was established in the year 2018. The Department offers graduate, postgraduate courses in Chemistry. It consists of qualified faculty members to make sure the best education Imparted to the students. The faculty members are also actively involved in research and carrying out projects. The students are provided with ample opportunities to improve their skills. They are motivated to handle seminars and participate in group discussions. Apart from emphasizing consistent and good academic performance, the department encourages participation of students in curricular and co-curricular activities to bring out the best in them.

Core Competence

A core of basic Chemistry provides with the fundamental chemical knowledge and skills, and the basis for more advanced work later on. The core Chemistry courses are aimed at building a strong foundation in the subject. Students are exposed to advanced research topics through electives and project work.

Programmes Offered

Chemistry is a basic analytical tool in all the disciplines. The department lays a strong foundation in Chemistry with syllabus designed so as to cater to the needs of all undergraduate and postgraduate students. Also, the department offers UG, PG course in Chemistry.

B.Sc. Chemistry

The Bachelor of Science in Chemistry provides a strong background to the fundamentals of Chemistry. There is a large demand for people with strong analytical skills and a broad-based background in the Chemical sciences. The 3-year B.Sc programme will prepare a student to avail many diverse attractive opportunities.

M.Sc.Chemistry

M.Sc Programme is proposed by the department to meet the growing demands of core mathematicians. The 2-year M.Sc. programme curriculum focuses not only on the conventional Chemistry course but also keeps in view of the current needs and demands in various upcoming fields.

MoU

The MoU with department of Chemistry, RTM Nagpur University is in process.

Bridge Course

            Objective: A bridge course for newly admitted students is conducted every year before the commencement of the first semester classes. The main objective of the course is to bridge the gap between subjects studied at Pre-university level and subjects they would be studying in Graduation.

Practice:

A module of the syllabus for Bridge Course is specially framed for UG& PG Course and introduced for first year students. It is designed for 10 days duration at the start of session.

Activities of Chemistry Department 

Inaugural ceremony of Chemistry Department

The Inaugural ceremony of Chemistry Department was a huge success. The launch took place at the Matoshri auditorium hall J.V.M., Devgram on 14th September 2022 at 1.00 P.M. Guest and the dignitaries arrived there where preliminary events like the lightning of the lamp and worshiping the goddess Saraswati At 1.00 P.M. Dr.Nitin Kongre Member of management Council RTMNU inaugurated the function. The 14th September 2022, Jeevan Vikas Mahavidyalaya achieved one more milestone. Our college started P.G course in Chemistry in rural area. The Inaugural Function of M.Sc. Chemistry took place at Matoshri hall of the college. The inaugurator and chief guest of programme was Dr. Nitin Kongre, member of management council at R.T.M Nagpur University and Dr. Chandrakant Talwatkar of Shri.  Mathuradas Mohata College of Science was the Guest of Honour. Dr. Devendra Bhongade, Principal JVM Devgram was the president of the programme. At this moment, Dr. Kongre , Dr. Talwalkar, Dr. Bhongade guided the students and acquainted with the opportunities after completing M.Sc. Chemistry. gives best wishes to the students. They wished the students for the bright future.

 

 

 

 

 

 

One Day Workshop on Introduction of Periodic Table and Periodic Properties

8th February 2023

          On the occasion of 189th birth anniversary of great scientist and chemist Dmitri Mendeleev, Department of Chemistry of Jeevan Vikas Mahavidyalaya, Devgram organized one day workshop on the Periodic Table and Periodic Properties on 8th February 2023 at the department of Chemistry. Vice-Principal of Dr. Raju Shrirame  inaugurated the function by lighting of the lamp. The programme took place in two sessions. In the first session Eminent scholar  Rupesh Shekhar gave information about Periodic Table to the students. At this moment , Dr. Mangesh Aacharya, chief guest of the programme and Co-ordinator of IQAC Department, Dr. Yogesh Sarode , Dr. Pravin Gharpure  guided the students and gave best wishes for the programme. In the second half, the students of M.Sc first year taught the students of 11th  Science and B.Sc how to remember all the elements of the periodic table and periodic properties, periodic trends of the table. Mr.  Nandkishor Charpe gave an introductory speech. Chetana Rewatkar  did the anchoring of the programme. Mr. Chetan Surjuse  proposed the vote of thanks.

 

 

 

 

 

 
One Day Workshop on Chemagica and Physio-Chemical Parameters of Water :

2nd March 2023

          On the occasion of National Science Day Department of Chemistry, Jeevan Vikas Mahavidyalaya Devgram organized one day activity on “Chemagica and Physisciochemical Parameters of Water”. The Principal of the College Dr. Devendra Bhongade inaugurated the programme by lighting the lamp. On this occasion Mr. Pritam Sukhdeve, Head of Department of Microbiology guided the students and narrated the importance of science in Human life. Also, Mr. Sumit Gurchal , Mr. Chetan Surjuse guided the students and gave best wishes for the programme. The programme took place in two sessions. In first sessions students from B.Sc and M.Sc demonstrated some magical experiments by using simple chemistry concept to the guest present. In the second half, Miss. Chetana Rewatkar gave presentation on Physiochemical parameters of water. The introductory speech was given by Shrutika Potpite .
